Following extensive internal consultation and discussion, the BCC submitted its response to IPOs Call for Views.
The BCC believes it is important for UK copyright law to be consistent with future EU copyright law and considers the EU’s Digital Single Market Strategy, on which it has worked for some time, to be a significant one for right holders and one that it would wish to see reflected in future UK legislation. As far as the details of the proposals are concerned, they are welcomed by the BCC and while members expressed differing views on some points, there was a consensus on the majority of issues.
