On 22nd October to 2nd November, we were proud to host the 20th Annual Interregional Seminar on Copyright and Related Rights, in association with WIPO and IPO. 14 international participants came to London, plus two from the BBC, and leading speakers from the copyright world. It was a busy and productive schedule but group had time to enjoy the sights of London, and the event closed with a dinner at the Royal Festival Hall, which was enjoyed by all. We’re extremely grateful to our sponsors – ALCS, BBC, BECS, Bird & Bird, CLA, ERA, DACS, Musician’s Union, PLS, PPL, PRS for Music and UK Music – whose generosity has this event happen, and to IPO for letting us use their offices. It was a pleasure to meet such a dynamic and friendly group of participants and we’re looking forward to hosting another successful seminar next year.
Vik Boodhun of the Mauritius Ministry of Arts Culture, in his speech at the closing dinner, described his experience of the course, “It has been instrumental in building the capacity of delegates to understand the technicalities of such a complex and challenging subject, which is copyright. We are now better equipped to understand the intricacies of copyright and will be able to duly discharge our professional responsibilities back home as well as share copyright knowledge.”
