The BCC’s response to the UK Government Consultation on “Copyright works: seeking the lost” can be found below. The BCC remains unconvinced about the practicalities of IPO’s proposals and many of its members feel that a great many questions remain unanswered. In addition the BCC found it confusing that the consultation dealt with the exception under the Orphan Works Directive and the national scheme under the ERRA in the same questions. In an earlier letter (see below) to IPO about Orphan Works and Extended Collective Licensing, the BCC again asked whether the consultation would address issues relating to criminal sanctions under CDPA 1988 s.107.

The BCC awaits IPOs response to the consultation with interest.BCC_Orphan_Works_final_280214
