From 25th to 31st March the BCC welcomed 9 visitors from the Directorate General of IPRs of the Republic of Indonesia and 3 representatives of the US Department of Justice/ICITAP in Indonesia, for a comparative study visit to the UK.
Professor Adrian Sterling facilitated the week, assisted by Katie Shellard and Caroline Sterling, which was based in the new offices of the Publisher’s Licensing Society in Russell Square. Maureen Duffy gave a warm introduction, followed by a presentation of the Copyright System in the UK by Professor Sterling.
Throughout the week the group attended presentations and discussions with representatives from CLA, BECS, British Hospitality Association, IPO, PPL, PRS for Music, PLS and Rouse & Co International. HH Judge Birss, QC also spoke to the group about the mechanism of copyright tribunal in the UK.
IPR Project Coordinator, Ms. Erita Harun said the group found the visit extremely useful, and we certainly enjoyed meeting each and every participant.
We’d like thank all those who came to present and made the week such a success, in particular Sarah Faulder for kindly letting us descend on the PLS premises!
